Tools for studying and searching of a graphic deisgner are related to its formal and conceptual synthesis capabilities through sign and symbol systems, verbal and non-verbal. The exercise required the construction of the trademark and subsequently the posters starting with the reading of Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities novel. After I chose the Dorotea town, I took Calvino’s narrative images and made it the visual identity of the city itself. The creative process is therefore a reading, analysis, synthesis and project work.

Gli strumenti di studio e di ricerca di un grafico sono legati alla sua capacità di sintesi formale e concettuale attraverso sistemi di segni e simboli, verbali e non verbali. L’esercizio richiedeva la costruzione del marchio e successivamente dei manifesti partendo dalla lettura del romanzo Le città invisibili di Italo Calvino. Dopo aver scelto la città Dorotea, ho colto le immagini narrative di Calvino facendole diventare identità visiva della città stessa. Il processo creativo è dunque un lavoro di lettura, analisi, sintesi e progetto.
